The staff, governors and students would like to welcome you to Moat Community College. It has a distinctive character and ethos and is a caring, happy and supportive learning community.

We are very proud of our students and their achievements. We aim to work together to ensure that all of our students achieve their potential academically and in all other areas. In recent years there have been a significant improvements in our students’ exam results. We are ambitious for our students and are working hard to ensure that their outcomes improve, year on year.

The College has an extremely committed and hard-working staff. They are passionate about supporting and caring for our students.

Moat is a very successful school; it was described as ‘Good’ in all areas in the most recent OFSTED report (March 2023). The reports comments include:

• Moat Community College is a welcoming and vibrant community where pupils thrive.

• Positive, respectful relationships are at the heart of the school’s ethos, and staff take time to get to know pupils and their families well. Pupils are safe and supported at school. There is a culture of high aspiration.

• Parents and carers are overwhelmingly positive about the support pupils receive. Leaders and staff want the best for every pupil.

• Leaders at all levels talk with enthusiasm and pride about the school. Staff speak favourably of the support they receive, and the sensitive workload management. They are happy and proud to work at the school.

• Bullying and discrimination of any kind are not tolerated. Leaders deal with any bullying swiftly and effectively. Pupils are confident that staff will take their concerns seriously.

We aim for our students to leave us as confident, kind, hardworking, tolerant and positive individuals. They will be fully prepared for the next stage of their education. Finally, they will have high expectations of themselves and go to achieve great things.
